Made with a combination of chicken, broccoli, almonds and Mornay, a type of cheese sauce, this dish was heavy yet delicious. People came from all over the world to try it, and soon other restaurants started to serve it as well.

Chicken Divan Recipe

Ingredients

12 oz of chopped up fresh or frozen broccoli, cooked
2 cups of chopped, bite-size pieces of cooked chicken
1 can of cream of chicken soup, condensed
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
2 tablespoons of butter, softened
1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup of soft bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes for topping

Directions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and grease a two-quart baking dish.
 

Step 2: Arrange the broccoli on the bottom of the baking dish. Top the broccoli with the chopped chicken. In a small bowl, mix the soup, lemon juice and mayonnaise. Pour the mixture over the chicken and broccoli. Top the chicken, broccoli and soup mixture with the shredded cheddar cheese.
 

Step 3: Mix the breadcrumbs or crushed corn flakes and the butter until it crumbles. Sprinkle this over the top of the cheese.
 

Step 4: Place the baking dish in the hot oven and cook for 30 to 35 minutes. The cheese should be melted, and the breadcrumbs or corn flakes should be golden brown. Allow to cool, and then serve.
